Default Early Oil Change

Hi, It's been my habit with the past few cars I've purchased (new) to take the car in to the dealership for an early oil change at say maybe 2,000 miles or so. The idea being to remove any debris that might be in the oil as a result of a new engine "breaking in". We have a new 2016 NX 200t F-Sport. I called my local Lexus dealer to ask the service department if they thought such was a good choice or not. The service guy told me that though they would certainly take my money and do an early oil change if I wanted one but that, in fact, he said Lexus runs these engines at the factory for a significant amount of time, empties that oil and reinstalls new oil. So he claimed what I was after has already been done, at the factory.

Anyone have thoughts, knowledge or opinions about that? Still trying to decide whether to do an early oil change at the Lexus dealership or not.

thanks..

If it makes you feel better, then just do it... but the SA is right in that it's unnecessary to change the oil so early.

At my first 1k mile service, they topped off the oil, that's it. I follow the factory recommendation.

Agree with dcahr - if it gives you peace of mind, the +- $100 might just be worth it if you plan on keeping the car many years.
