Default Consumer Reports - reliability

All:

Despite CR's unflattering review of the NX, the vehicle's reliability scores - which are compiled from subscriber responses to periodic surveys - are pretty spectacular, as seen in the below charts:

The NX is "the best of the best"!

Note: the asterisk (*) denotes that the rating is from a single model year, either because the model is new or has undergone a significant redesign.

Great find.

And besides the small number of owners affected with the infotainment lockup and brake booster issue, the NX is a formidable achievement considering the brand new model and engine! Lexus having waited for so long to jump into the compact luxury CUV market has paid off.

PS. Kudos to Audi with the Q3 for having the top reliability score. Surprising somewhat but not so much considering it has a familiar 2L Turbo engine refined over many years and less tech available than its bigger brother Q5 or NX for things to go wrong.

I don't think the NX has been out long enough to actually know if it truly is the most reliable model in the range, but that's good to know that there hasn't been many complaints during the first model year.

True but at 30k+ units sold YTD, plenty of things to have gone wrong (or not) with a first model year.

The CR data certainly agrees with my personal experience with my NX200t!

Consumer Reports has the Lexus NX noted as a check rated Recommended vehicle in their latest newstand consumer guide books devoted to automobiles. Some of us were expecting as much despite their gripes and 'Worst of 2015' nonsense.

According to CR, for a vehicle to be Recommended, it has to show Average or better Reliability from their Owner Surveys and score at a certain level in their Road Test. Obviously the reports from owners are coming back favorable.

Still love to see Lexus and Toyota at the top of the reliability pack.

My Lexus is under a year old, so I can't comment yet on reliability.

However, we still have an older Toyota Corolla---have had it 10 plus years (stickshift) and am going to use it as a winter beater.

This week it had it's second repair every - front wheel bearing on driver side. The first repair was about 5 years ago and was a sensor issue that was fixed for nominal cost.

2 repairs in 10 years and 260,000 km...everything else was just standard maintenance. You just can't beat quality like that.

I'm shocked to see how bad the Lincoln MKC is. I haven't heard anything. Anyone know what problems they are having?

Ford has a lot of work to do. 24 complaints on the MKC vs 0 for the NX.

Thanks, and to think it was on my short list at the time. I see they had to move the stop/start button on the earlier models. It was with the gear selection buttons and owners were inadvertently shutting down their cars.

I'm happy to report my NX has be problem free since 2/15.

I haven't seen the CR issue, but it should show the general problem areas. It would be interesting to see.
