NX window tint (merged threads)
I'm going to tint pros in states island and was wondering do you know what the factory tints of the nx? I'm planning to get mine tinted. You did all your around and what percentage is limo tints usually? When you cover tints with factory rear, is there a difference I one darker than the front? I want to go a bit darker on my rears but match that of the fronts,
mind me asking, how much did you get yours all around tinted?

Been seeing a lot of people with issue on 2019 Model and wanted to see if anyone had any issues tinting a 2018 model? The tint shop I normally use said he’s tinted a lot of NX I wonder if only the 2019 have this coating issue.
still doesn’t answer. He has a 2019 and said from his understanding 18-19 has this coating. Again, i’m asking if anyone can confirm they were successful or unsuccessful tinting their 2018 as many shops say they can do it. If you can’t answer the question I have then why respond with no answer?
I’m interested in this, as I also just purchased a 2019 ES 350 F Sport. If your window label has UV or UVS on it, I would be cautious, unless you don’t care about the tinter completely removing the inner film. The tinter I went to, who does a lot of tinting for the local Lexus dealership, actually turned down the job and told me about it. I would tend to trust them vs. others who say the issue doesn’t exist. Even though they have the tint film matched to the model and computer cut, so that a blade never touches the windows during install, it’s apparently related to how most tinters clean/prep the windows with a blade, before the install. I even contacted Lexus asking about tinting UV/UVS windows, and they totally skirted the issue, simply saying that they don’t support any aftermarket modifications, such as tinting windows. Funny thing as you all know, dealerships typically contract to a local tinter and up charge to us, so window tinting is a normal modification that many new owners make.
Unless there’s a way to properly prep the windows without a blade, I believe there’s a chance in scratching the inside of UV/UVS windows. I’m holding off on tinting mine for now...

I’ll find out and get back to this. My tinter will do my car for free if he can do it since he’s curious on what the issue is after seeing mutiple incident on the forums.
At at least so far we have confirmed incident that you cannot tint without scratching on:
2019 NX
2019 ES
Tinted:
2018 NX

The tinter that told me about this potential issue said they had an experience in scratching the glass with a 2018 NX model, and apparently the UV/UVS labels on my 2019 ES matched,so they were cautious and passed on the work. They passed on the opportunity to tint my car again, as I followed up with them to see if there were any updates or resolutions. This is from a tinter who tints for the local Lexus dealership. Be careful and good luck.
