Default DCM Issue - Replacement necessary?

Hi, I took my 2019 NX in for its 60K service on Tuesday and asked them to check my SOS light, which turned red about a month ago. I subscribe to both safety connect & remote.

They called me and told me they diagnosed the DCM as failing and recommended replacement, for which they quoted $1700. My receipt has this note: "FOUND DTC B15A8 FOR DCM MALFUNCTION. RECOMMEND REPLACING DCM"

My DCM gets good cell signal, I can lock/unlock my car via the app, the vehicle health reports and trip information get recorded and submitted, and the only issue is I am unable to remote start the car via the app.

Is there any other potential remedy for this than replacement? Is this quote about what one would expect?

Try reinitializing the DCM first: disconnect your car battery and leave it disconnected for 30 minutes. Reconnect the battery and recheck the SOS light to see if the light has turned green.

Thank you. I just finished doing this. At car start, it flashes green then turns red again and stays red.

Unfortunately, it’s likely that your DCM requires replacement. You might search online for a used/parted out replacement DCM in an effort to save some $$.
