Hey guys. I was wondering if any of you are using a different service that is similar to the Lexus Enform Remote. My free year is almost up and I do not feel like paying the steep renewal fee. Main things I like about the app is the ability to remote start your car through your phone, and also to see where your car is on a map.

 

I don't think there is any alternative for Enform Remote
Mine was up last month, and I just stopped using it.
I would say... you get used to not having it, unless you remote start your car all the time, and always forget where you parked lol

 

I don't really use the remote start feature ever, but it is handy. If I did use it though, I'd find it easier to remote start the car using the key fob instead of the app. I like how the app can find your car on a map. I especially like the emails being sent by the service when my doors are left unlocked. I then lock my doors with the app without having to return to the car. That's happened to me a couple of times. I really like the valet mode and use it every time I turn my car over to someone, particularly valets or the dealership. In valet mode, the service will email me every time the car is started, left running for a certain period, exceeds a certain speed or a certain mileage. I then scare the valets and dealership into taking care of my car by telling them I put the car into valet mode and tell them what notifications I'm getting. Lol. I recently bought 4 more years of the enform service for around $850.00. Glad to have the peace of mind.

 

Valet mode is the only reason I'm considering renewing... was great to know what the dealer shop was doing and when they were doing it.

 

I'm in the same boat as you. I haven't heard of any other alternatives. The price is pretty steep but I was hoping the price could be negotiated like SiriusXM but probably not.

 

Yea I do agree that valet mode is very useful. I valet my car at work each morning, so it's good to know my car is still there. There was a time when I first started parking there they gave me someone else's IS that looked just like mine.

I guess I'll see how quick I get used to not having it. If anything I can renew it later on if I feel I can't live without it. I've been getting mails about renewing it, but it doesn't seem like they are planning to budge on the price.

 

Considering you have the Enform hardware it would be a waste to install third party equipment to gain these features, especially considering you'd still have to pay for the service. I have Viper SmartStart on my 4GS and it cost $199 for 3 years of service which includes more or less all the services the Enform remote offers. Of course the Enform remote is more deeply integrated, but that comes at a (hefty) price premium.
