Default Newbie Remote Start Question

I bought a 2019 NX 300 used from an non Lexus dealer. I was surprised to find out a few weeks later that its remote start is still working (Lock, Lock, Lock, Hold Lock).

Do you know if this was activated knowingly by the dealer or Lexus online system, whatever, so that they can charge me later? Not sure exactly how the subscription thing works...(shrug).
Any chance that they forgot to disable it and I can use the service for free..lol...?

One other thing is that, after I remote started it and if I try to get in the car, as soon as I open the door, it turns off. Am I doing something incorrectly or this is by a design and I have to open the door in certain way? Hopefully it is not a teaser function to lure me into buying their service. Sorry, this remote start is very new to me and I'm clueless.....

Thanks!

The remote start feature for all Lexus vehicles shuts the car off when you unlock and open the door.

You may have what remains of an Enform subscription from the previous owner. If that is the case, when it expires, you will lose the remote start capability. Another possibility is that the previous owner may have installed a 3rd party remote starter. If that is the case, it would work (without a paid subscription) from the key fob, but it would not work with the smart phone app. Does yours work with the smart phone app?

Oh..I guess that is one of the stupid Lexus security/safety concern things.

What is the app called? Hopefully installing the app and using it does not trigger something to Lexus and shut me down..lol
I will try the app if you know which one to try. Thanks.

My enform subscription expired after the initial free period, and my remote start on the fob still works. No additional cost, also a 2019 NX. As others have mentioned, as soon as you open the driver door after remote start, the vehicle will turn off. Annoying vs what I had on a 2017 RDX as with that one, once you did remote start, you would get in, step on the brake, shift to Drive, and you were on your way. The way the Lexus works is inferior in my opinion.

Remote start with the key fob will stay active as long as some part of the telematics system is active. In the case of every 2019 model and up, you get Service Connect for 10 years from date of first use.
