lol, I hear you. Just posting the info above to let you know that it's not so much about a number they need to provide to the judge for the ticket to be valid.

Judge is going to ask you if you were going slower than the flow of traffic and you'll reply yes (saying no will just pit your word against the cop and you'll lose)

Judge will ask why you were going slower (and here is where you win or lose with your reasoning). "Engine trouble" or "Protecting my rims from potholes" is an automatic lose as the Judge will tell you that you shouldn't have been on the highway if that's the case.

No, didn't know that at all, crazy. Might be worth checking with Vlad as I think he may have had one of those tickets in the past and can provide some insight on the topic.

Never got a ticket for going too slow Cliff, LOL. However brooklyn south is the worst, the judges are some of the hardest nosed sobs I've ever had the displeasure of getting put in front of. Most of my tickets have been for tints. I dont bother to go anymore, I just pay it if I get it. Havent had one in a while though, knock on wood. Hope to keep it that way.

Vlad, what percent tints do you have on the GS?

I seen your car about a year ago, if I could recall correctly you are as dark as me (20% all around) or maybe more. Don't you also have your front windshield done as well?

i was in the car wit joe when he got those 3 tickets, the cop tried to play it off like the driving to slow ticket wasnt a big deal to get. as if its an equipment ticket and not a moving violation lol

i think joe has a good argument to fight the ticket. thats if the judge will let him get more than just a couple of words in.
1-there is no minimum speed posted on the belt
2-no speed was recorded for the ticket
3-in the drivers manual posted,(unless i missed it or its stated somewhere else) no where does it say that it is unlawful to drive slower than the speed limit. it says that it can be dangerous.
4-if this does warrant a ticket then there should be a minimum speed posted under every single speed limit sign because then will it actually be unlawful. u cant write and official ticket for an unofficial law (again thats if i didnt miss this fact somewhere lol)

i for 1 would love to have a minimum speed limit posted on all the parkways caz then it would help lessen the amount of douche bags that do 40-45 in the damn left lane.

See post #30. There isn't need to be a number associated with the ticket. Check the links from my post, one is from the drivers manual and the other is a link to the listing of NYS vehicle equipment laws.

Cops are allowed to ticket you for creating 'dangerous' situations. Driving slower than the flow of traffic (to protect our rims) is dangerous and they have every right to cite us for it. If our cars aren't equipped to run highway speeds because we want to protect them from potholes, then don't take the highway is their view. It's hard to argue that point.

Kinda late here but better late than never..

NYPD IS cracking down on tints; it is a part of their main quota right next to parking, seat belt, and cell phone tickets. It was in an article in the daily news. But like stated earlier it's not their fault we put on dark tints.

I recvd two tint tickets on 12/19/10.
Cop "You know your tints are too dark for NY state?"
Me "I wasnt aware. I'm from out of state" (GA tags)
Cop "NY tint law is (i forgot what he said), GA law is 32%". Pulls out the tint reader and it registers my front windows at 16%. Gave me two tickets; one for ea front window. One the ticket he writes "D/S tint 16% (GA limit 32%)".

Tint tickets are written as moving violations with no points. I guess it's harder to fight this way.

Take a look at this thread on this police forum. You can see how one nypd officer states his fave write ups are for seat belt, cell phone, and tints.

My boy's brother is Lt or Sgt in Brooklyn, so I'm gonna ask him if i have to pay these tickets.

I have yet to have had first hand experience, but from what I was told, the NYPD has implemented a new system where tickets CANNOT be 'torn' up. Ask your boy to get you a PBA card because once they hand you the ticket, there won't be anything that anyone can do.

You're right about the new policy. What I meant was, should i pay or wait to see if they throw it out.

I came across this post on CL...I'll definitely use it as reference.
