I heard some very disturbing news today, mayor bloomberg is making a proposal to albany for them to pass a law that will ban window tinting on vehicles in nyc. Wut the F is wrong with this guy!? first off, he proposed commuters to pay $8 to enter manhattan between 6a-6p, THANK GOD that didnt pass to become law. NOW he wants to ban tints just cuz some cop got shot in the face twice and died? Oh give me a break, cops go into their job knowing they're going to be in harm's way, now someone shoots a cop in a tinted bmw x5 and they want to ban tints? Dude its only the life of one cop, what about the war in Iraq where our soldiers die everyday? Why don't they put a ban on war. What about states like Texas where tints are legal no matter how dark they are and where people can get guns at their local bodega. Bloomberg is the most irrational mayor of NYC to date and I hope everyone learned a lesson and never appoint another -berg for mayor.

Hey man, he's just doing all of this to benefit everyone. One life of a cop means alot to someone else , be glad that these police officers are taking a job that risks thier own neck to protect you from being shot at. Bloomberg may have some irrational ways, but its better than having many officers injured/killed in the line of duty. Im sure most of us can get along without tints.
i still dont think it's fair, but it'll probably go into affect anyway. Tints are helpful in a way too. Help block sun's rays, help keep excess heat out. and adds a bit of privacy to your car (not letting people know exactly whats inside).
Even if tints don't get banned you can still expect to be cornered by cops almost every other day if you have em on your car. Cops aren't taking tints lightly any longer especially with the death of that cop.

I am sorry but your opinion on this issue is absurd. The war in Iraq has nothing to do with what is going on domestically. Second, officers do go into the job knowing there is an element of risk that they must except. If that element of risk is there why make it that much greater by allowing tinted windows. Third, my grandfather was a police officer for the city of Pittsburgh. I am really offended that you simplify the issue by saying, "Dude its only the life of one cop". That was a ******y thing to say, regardless of my grandfather being a cop or not. What if you were in a burning building and the firefighters said well it the life of only 1 person let them die. I think your thoughts would be differently, and I know the thoughts of the public would be different, they would simpathize with you and your family. Wake up, it is a mod to a car
P.S. There are members of this forum and NELOC that go out everyday and risk their lives whether it is on the Police force or the Fire Department, I am sure they enjoyed your comments.
In Mexico City we have a tint law now that says that tint is not permissible that obstructs the view of the interior where the driver is. Issue that has been occurring is that people will take a vehicle out for a TEST DRIVE and get pulled over for having too dark of a tint, even though it is OEM.
Imagine if that cop was your family member, or you.
Do you think your life is only one life?
I don't care if they ban tint - I never put it on because I spend the $300+ on a pair of polarized sunglasses. I have no tint because I have nothing to hide. People break the law on tint all the time anyways, and this goes to show why there is a % limit in many states as well.
Think before you speak.

Ok. I take it as this was a notice to fellow members to be aware of what's going on in regards to the tint laws in NYC. With that being said it is now turning into something else.
