Default Timing belt change!

hey!
i have called around to get quotes for my timing belt change and it seems to be about $985. how does this sound? this inculdes the belt, water pump, and tensioner. The best price i got was from Crown Lexus. Do you think i need my water pump and tensioners changed? If not the timing belt change will cost about 500 only. i'm thinking i should change becuase they are taking apart the car already and it will save on labor. what do you think? thanks!

yes, change it all out.

now call a few Lexus certified Toyota dealerships/service centers. You may see the price for tb, wp, tensioner, and belts drop a couple of hundred.

good luck.

Yeah you should change it all. The reason is that if you have problems later on it will cost you even more as all of these parts are generally in the same area and require time to take out. Thats what I did when I bought my 1st gen,

If you are in the So Cal area I would recommend Todd at TMEngineering. The banner for TME is on this website.

Or try www.tmengineering.net

I would not trust anyone else with my GS400 and he does everything at EXCELLENT prices!

Lexus dealership here charges $850 to replace engine timing belt and water pump for 8 cyl., $700 for 6cyl. This is done at 90,000-mile service. I would change both at once because it will be a while before 180,000-mile

Got some questions:

How far as everyone gone on the same timing belt before changing it?

And anyone have a timing belt snap on them?

I ask because I have a 95 ES300(bought new) and I have never changed the belt on it and it now has 117K miles.
