I was given a Dealer Maintenance History printout for my 93 LS but I was dissappointed with the apparent lack of information on it. Lots of code numbers and a only a few words words like "inspection" or "oil filter". I know the timing belt was replaced at a Lexus dealer but I can find no mention of it-the word "timing belt" does not appear anywhere. Is there another type of printout ? Does anyone have a list of what the codes mean ?
Good Question Herm. I have a print out as well and felt that information was difficult to understand. I did feel positive because of the number of entries. Plus, the key work "30,000 mile", "60,000 mile", etc. was shown. I would also appreciate any input on this. Sorry that I couldn't help much, but I appreciate your question.
The reason you were dissappointed is because you don't really have the full list. Each line you are reading can be individually opened and read clearly. It's very easy to print and hand you a couple of pages. The service writer who printed the report didn't want to print the full 20-40 pages. It is time consuming to do, but can be done.
DevilDog is right, you can open each "line" from the history. What you have is just a summary. Go around when the service is not too busy, usually during a weekday in the middle of the afternoon. Not in the morning or anything around 5 pm as it is usually busier, ask nicely and you shall receive! Good luck!
With all due respect, that's not quite the point. Like Herm and kjbro, I also have a condensed print out of all the maintenance done to my car (it was given to me when I bought the certified car). It would be prefectly adequate IF we knew what the two- letter codes on the right mean.
For example- I have entries like:
Battery R& Cooling System CL Wheel OT ATF LU Diff Oil RP
Only the last one is obvious ("Replace", right?) Herm's question, (and mine) is: what do those other codes mean? It shouldn't be necessary to visit a dealer just for that.
You're right- there are lots of codes. On my printout (5 years old- the format may be different now), there is a 7 digit Repair Order code (different one for each visit), then the date, a 2 digit CD #, one-digit T number, Mileage, then a 6 digit OP CODE- that's the specific code for each procedure. For example, an oil change is 002119, tire rotation is 420018. Then there is the 30-character "description field": Cooling System CL Wheel OT ATF LU Diff Oil RP
(I can't seem to control the font properly- in the actual printout, those 2 letter codes are lined up along the right hand edge.)
But maybe it is wider than 30 characters and the printer cut off the rest. Anyway, I was hoping those 2 letter codes had some meaning.

Herm! Put up your vin # and I'll see if our service dept can help you out. No promises, though, but I will ask for you. And thanks for the offer of money, but it's not needed. Anything I can do to encourage that you all stay Lexus owners is enough for me.
