VSC and Engine lights on
This Monday, the VSC and Engine lights of my IS250AWD were on. Took it to Lexus dealership and they said the valve springs need to be replaced for a 10 hour job. My IS250 has 103,000Km on it and I am not sure whether it is common that valve springs being worn out at this mileage. In general how long do valve springs last?
Sounds like bull. I'd ask them what the OBD2 code they got on the vehicle was. If they won't give it to you, I'd take it to any mechanic with one of these simple devices to read the code for you. I bought one on of these scanners that has the Can protocol (that works for newer vehicles like yourse for under $50 USD on Amazon).
There was a TSIB to replace valve springs on the 2006 IS250 for a misfire concern. There is also a TSIB to do a carbon top engine clean process to clean the tops of the pistons, valves, rings, etc. Not sure what the conversion is, but 103k km is likely out of the powertrain warranty.
