electrical problem
hi guys,
Is there anybody who can help me out with this strange problem.
I have got problems with the light on my dashboard, sometimes all the lights go off and a minute later they come back on again.
When the lights are out I can see that the speedometer is still working, but sometimes the lights are on and my speedometer is not working and rests at zero the same happens with the rpm meter.
This is very irritating especially at nights because sometimes they are also flickering.
I also have another problem, my car is installed with a speedlimiter when I drive faster than 130 km around 80 miles
( wich I often drive) I hear this bell, very annoying.
Does anybody knows how to take this out, I know it is connected with my speedometer because when it isn't working it is all nice and quiet in the car ( except from my yelling daughter! )
Thanks,
Marco

this is a guess..... i have a 93 gs300 and i think the instrument cluster on your ls is probably similar. my tach did not work and i pulled the instrument cluster out and noticed that one of the screws on the back that secures the tach in place was missing. a closer inspection showed that some of these screws on the back are for more than just holding the tach in place... they actually provide a grounding, or neutral for the tach. i found a screw that would fit and put it in. This fixed the tach, 1st time it has worked since i bought the car last january. You can see where i am going with this. Possible one or more of these screws are loose. there are many screws on the back of the instrument cluster. It might be worth the effort to pull your instrument cluster. marcus

Thanks you for your response, next weekend I will take my dash apart, I have opened it before but didn't know where to look.
I think you could be right that it must be a grounding problem.
Another thing, next week I will receive my pioneer radio from the dealer, it was broke and I have sended it to my dealer in Holland, from Holland it went to Belgium and now it will go back to Holland and a friend of me will bring it to me in Spain next week.
In total I have been without a radio for six months,( I am a better singer now though) but finally I will have music again!!!!!
Marco, (still a happy Lexus owner)
