Default Speedometer needle

Hi all,
Starting last month, my speedometer needle will not move and show the car's speed until after I drove it for 10-15 min. Do any member have this problem and how to fix this? Is this a mechanical problem (bad speedo cable) or electrical? Mine is a 93 LS. Thanks for any help.

Well, I forgot to mention that I still have ALL the lights. The needle just will not move until after I drove the car for 10-15 min. Suddenly at this point, it will jump to life and everything is normal again. Sometimes, the tach needle does the samething but not as often as the speedo needle...
