Default Brake question, really noob!

Sorry about this, I don't know if this is the right thread to post but here it goes...
I have no idea how to tell if my brakes are worn or not. I took out my tire to check because there was a squeal/squeak and then I looked at it and had no idea what I was looking for. Any help guys? thanks.

Also when I put the tire back on it spun and squealed (driver side front) any idea what that is? I hear the squeal when I drive but it goes away when I press on brakes

without even looking, that squeal is your brake wear indicator... time for pads (and maybe rotors)

Probably time to swap out the pads, do you get any vibration when braking? If so, it might be time for the rotors too.

Thanks, I did more research online and took a look at my pads I have 2mm left =X. I don't remember any vibration but I will check soon and update. Also when I brake slowly from low mph (10-20mph) sometimes there's a scratching noise. I don't know if its my mud guard (its loose and hanging but its high), it seems to happen only occasionally. Thanks for the help guys!
