Default Opinion on Oil and Oil Filter

I've been changing my own oil with Mobil1 Full Synthetic 5w-30 with Mobil1 Extended Performance Filter every 7500miles. Should I stick with it or should I use Mobil1 Full Synthetic 5w-30 with Original Toyota Filter every 5000miles? I do lot of highway miles so I usually do 1500miles a month. I guess I will be doing 4 oil changes a year with Mobil1 and Toyota Filter and 3 oil changes a year with Mobil1 and Mobil1 Filter. Changing it every 10000miles with Mobil1 and Mobil1 sounds too much?

stick with what works for you...

I personally do oil changes every 5k, sometimes let slide til about 6k... I use Mobil 1 filter/oil... The OE Toyota filter is no better than the Mobil 1 filter, in fact, the Mobil 1 filter has a better filter media...

On my 02 ES I used Mobil 1 (not EP) 5w-30 and a K&N filter every 5000 miles.
I would have used the Mobil 1 filter but the K&N has a molded in nut on the bottom of the cannister that makes removal and replacement so much easier. (K&N and Mobil 1 oil filters are supposedly made by the same manufacturer: Champion. The Mobil 1 filter has a synthetic material while the K&N is a paper filter).

Your good brotha. Just stick w/ the Mobil 1 w/ the Mobil 1 filter. The Toyota OEM oil filter is good but designed for dino oil. If you compare the two filters side by side, the Mobil 1 filter is about 15% bigger.

I've run Mobil 1 5W x 30 w/ both Mobil 1 oil filter and stock OEM filter and honestly have notice no difference between the two.

But I enjoy the peace of mind knowing that the oil running thru my car's veins is designed 2 run with the same filter its been engineered to run on. And depending on where you purchase the oil filter the OEM filter will cost you just as much or more than the Mobil 1.

Just keep wattcha runnin

I use a larger K&N HP-2009 than the oem-sized K&N HP-1002. The HP-1002 oem size is common to most modern Toyota/Lexus vehicles.
