87 gas
Well today being a long day .. having a lot in my head and being careless at the same time ... I started pumping regular gas in my is350 on accident .. now I know its not recommended to do so .. How much did it affect my car ?
I had approximately 30 miles of gas left in the tank when I started refueling .. I put in about 1.50$ out of 20.00$ of regular gas when I realized my fault and stopped .. Then further filled the rest of what was left with Premium ... So did this miniscule amount of regular actually do damage to my car and affect its performance ? If so , how do I fix it ?
Thanks in advanced

worst case scenario, the knock sensor picks up some more activity than its used to and the pcm/ecm pulls timing, reducing engine output a little... since the computer is constantly monitoring that, once any knocking goes away, it will advance timing back to where its supposed to be...

I have done some tests in Mexico on 87 octane sometimes (due to altitude difference) and although my MPG improved a little, just noticed a small difference in performance, but then again the vehicle's ECM has to adjust.
$1.50 won't hurt it, especially on U.S. gas.

With gas pumps that have multiple octanes and only one nozzle,
you're probably getting a good amount of whatever the last person pumped anyway. I will just go out on a limb with no evidence to back it up but guess I'm typically getting a half gallon if not more of whatever the last person pumped everytime.
That being said, don't worry, it's not gonna make any appreciable difference. There's better things to worry about in your car if you're a worrier
, but I won't open up a can of worms for you.

I'm going on my 3rd tank full and based on discussions with the dealer and service manager I am using 87 oct. Although all of the testing has been done on 91 there is no need to go to 93. No effects to the fuel management system and the system compensates for the octane rating.

. I say no damage and no change in performance. Definitely don't worry about it.
