Default How to replace tranmission solenoids

Guys,

92 SC300. Flashing O/D light. No CEL and no codes. Speedometer is working fine.

Thinking one or both of the shift solenoids is/are bad. From what I understand you have to take out the transmission pan and they are somewhere there. Anyone have a write up on how to do it? Also, anyone know how you can find out which of the 2 are bad? Apart from putting it all back together and seeing if it keeps flashing after replacing just one

Any help would be appreciated. This car is for sale so I am trying to limit the amount I spend on it.

Regards,
Jonny

Take your car to dealer and get proper diagnosis. If it's the shift solenoid your SC300 A340 trans got 4 of them and it's call solenoid 1,2,3 and 4. Some of them have to drop the valve body in order to replace them...a PITA.
Or you can jump the DTC connector TE1 and E1 by using the jumper wire and count the CEL flashing.

I have been trying not to take it to the dealer as it is a $3000 cost - and by the time I get out of there I will have spent a good chunk on it. As I mentioned, this car is for sale so I don't want to dump much money into it - possibly sell it discounted and let the new buyer deal with it.

I have checked the TE1 and E1 and the it doesn't flash - so I am not putting out any codes. Do you think possibly just a transmission flush might help? Or would that just be throwing money at the problem unecessarily?

Thanks again,
Jonny

The trans flush won't help anything. The best way is to deal with the buyer and give him a head up about the trans problem and a discount. Good luck.
