What kind of prep do you do for a long drive?
Basic things like checking all fluids, making sure coolant is properly mixed and at adequate levels. Check that A/C and heat works fine. Make sure wiper blades are in good condition. Clean the car well, which means full detail. Make sure all lights work and your windows are clear and clean. Have all proper emergency equipment, cell phones, insurance cards, blankets, extra food, flashlights, spare tire and etc. Alignments and wheel balancing may be necessary as well.
So, not a very long trip but a total 6 hour drive and I got the best gas mileage I've ever gotten with my SC...26 mpg! I'm quite proud of that, hehe. Changed the oil, adjusted tire pressure and dumped in some Lucas fuel injector cleaner. Safe and smooth trip.
