Default What kind of prep do you do for a long drive?

I usually try not to take my SC for long drives, however; rental cars are expensive this time of year. I'm just curious what sort of prep you all do to protect your paint, ensure safety and reliablity, increase gas mileage, etc. before you embark on your journey. I'm sure we've probably got some strange and supersitious rituals too.

Increase MPG
Coast to Stops
Use cruise control
Anything over 75mph reduces your mpg significantly
Gently Accelerate from a stop

LoL, hey Anthony. Yeah I believe I just might though only for a day. Thanks for the input though guys. Other than the virgin sacrificing, I do the rest. Just wanted to see if there's something I haven't thought of.

I drove my car from Texas to Socal and then from Socal to Philly this summer. Like everyone said, check your fluids and your tires. One more important thing...get a Valentine V1. I can't even count how many times the radar detector saved me.

cooler filled with ice and gaterade and redbull

Lord of the rings in the dvd player its 3 hours long!!!!!

fill gas with 91 and a bottle of barrymans product fuel injection cleaner. its like pure octane might as well clean your injectors while your driving.

all fluids in the car should be good always keep your drift machine in good conditon.

tire pressure check it you will get good milage. carry a spare, wheel locks you will regret if something happens.

Car cell phone CHarger

When I used to drive up to Texas from Mexico City, would do an alignment, car wash and top off the fluids.

MMarshall wrote a big piece on ways to save gas when driving. This may be good to read and certain aspects should pertain to driving long distances.

Drive safe,
