hi i was wondering what kind of synthetic oil do you guys use. also how often do you guys change your oil. what can you guys suggest, i got a 03 is300. gonna hit 57k mi soon. thanks.

 

i use mobil 1. I change mine every 4 months, which is about 1.5k miles

 

ok like what gradu do you use, 10-40, 20-50. 1.5 k miles is pretty soon , i thought it was every 3k, and shouldn't it be more if you use synthetic oil?

 

For your IS and that mileage, would still run a 5W30 weight, Mobil 1 or even better is Amsoil.

 

I use a mixture of 1qt of 0w-20 and 4qts of 5w-30.

Yes 1.5k miles is soon, but my daily commute is only 1.5 miles away and there are lots of traffic lights in between. Lots of wear on my engine so I change my oil according to time instead of miles. Theoretically if I were to change my oil about ever 6k miles or so, it would take me 2 years to reach it. lol. Oh yea, that 0w-20 quart is there to help startup since my commute does not allow my engine to reach optimal temperature. But tha's for me though. I dont recommend you mixing up your own stuff.

 

5-30 and 10-30 Mobil 1 synthetic every 7-8k. my commute is about 60 miles a day. And yes synthetic lasts longer.

 

I use Mobil 1's synthetic oil. I don't know which grade it is, but I do remember it isn't a common one.

 

I use German Castrol Syntec 0w30 or Mobil 1 Supersyn 0w40 European car formula

 

Mobil 1 5-30 about every 7K.

LS - Mobil 1 10W - 30
RX (next service) - Motul 300V Double Ester 5W - 30

Would you care to point me in the direction that made you come to the conclusion that Amsoil is better than Mobil 1? Last time i checked, the UOA's of Mobil 1 with any Toyota/Lexus vehicles were coming back spectacular. If you dont believe me go to www.bobistheoilguy.com and see for yourself.
