Default Deposits on Heater Valve??

Sorry for the numerous posts. I was poking around a newly bought car so I am beginning to notice some things. I see some strange looking deposits where the heater hose connects to the heater valve.

It looks like dried fibres/salt. Any idea what could be causing this deposit?? anyone has the same problems??

Anything serious?? Car is 92 LS 400 with 200k miles.

Thanks

Your water hose is weeping between the inner and outer hose. Common on a hose of this age. My recommendation is to replace it prior to winter, might replace the coolant if it hasn't been in the last couple of years. Check all the rest of the hoses if they too are original...they seem to burst when you least expect a problem.

So in your opinion, the deposits are pretty normal? Thanks

No, those deposits are not normal. They are typical of hoses that are deteriorating. Meaning you need to replace them. Which is the message from the previous post. Don't neglect minor maintenance since it only leads to bigger problems and costs in the future.

Exact same thing happened to me. Replace that hose and check the other ones for signs of stress.

They won't leak while you're idling but once you car gets hot and you're driving the pressure increases and the hose expands. Mine was actually spraying coolant all over my engine which lead to further problems.

Hi,
I'm wondering if the hoses are filled with some debris, or the valve isn't working properly:
Would that cause my intermitent heat problem that I face in the winter?
Thanks, Don
