New York State Inspection
Does anyone who resides in the New York City metro area know the answer to this question...
When having your 2004 (earlier and or late model) vehicle inspected for the annual New York State Inspection, what type of sticker is issued for the windshield?
I have seen various types of stickers such as the blue and white border with white paper middle that has the expiration date printed in black ink (old school IMO). Then theres the vinyl looking sticker that has a punch out with the expiration month.
Does anyone have any examples of what they are currently issuing?
I also assume that a vehicle in its second year gets the "full" inspection?

They no longer issuing the Blue and White Border stickers. By the end of this year everyone should have the new stickers on thier car. I think you would only get a safety inspection...($10) if i remember correctly.

Ok so the blue and white border stickers are being phased out. The current inspection sticker is grey for 2006?
First year inspection is just a sfaety check and is $10. Second year inspection I think is the "full" inspection. Has anyone brought their vehicle back to the dealership for the annual inspection? Any pros or cons using the dealer for this service?

Spoke with the service maanger at my local Lexus dealer...
he states that the grey 2006 sticker will be issued for the second year inspection. However this will be the last year of the smaller type inspection sticker and the blue and white border sticker will be issued thereafter.
I thought the blue and white border inspection stickers were being phased out? The Lexus service manager doesn't seem to think so.

I have a 2000, and my 2006 inspection sticker is the small square type. I used to get the white with colored border ones, bu they have several different types of inspection requirements now based on year and ULEV certifications. My car was not even put on the emissions dyno this last time.

I just had my OBD-I inspected this august, and I got a blue and white border inspection sticker. I had my OBD-II inspected this august as well, and it received the small gray square. I seriously think the OBD-I's get blue and white, and OBD-II gets the small square.

So for those who have gotten the "small" square sticker, was the inspection done at the Lexus dealership or an independent shop?
I know for a fact that AWD vehicles can't be tested on the dyno.
BTW what is the difference between OBD-1 and OBD-2
