sounds like you got a shot distributor O-ring, it's not hard to change it but easy to screw the ignition timing.

also not to sound like a nitpick or to turn this thread into a debate, but there are better filters for the price of that Fram...

OEM Toyota at my local dealer is $4.50, same price as Frams at Kragen. Guess who gets my business

For filters, Mobil 1, PureOne, Toyota OEM are the only ones I even consider. As for the leak, definitely looks like distributor o-ring. Runs about $3 from your neighborhood Lexus dealer. If you take a few precautions, your timing should remain intact. I just did a writeup of how to do this in the SC3/4 Engine forum. Do a search.

Hate to Piggy Back, but that first picture is just to good for the purpose.

The lower one of the "clam-shell" electrical connectors is mangled on my 1UZ-FE. Any ideas on how do get an economical replacement?

Thanks.

Might be worth a trip to Lexus for a factory O-ring or two. Can't cost too much and you'll get the correct part.
