Broke trans pan bolt
I broke off the head of a 95 SC400 transmission pan bolt. It appears I should just be able to drill out the stud or tap it and reverse it out . It is one of the middle bolts on the front of the pan. Looking at it, I believe I can do it without removing the pan itself.
Any have any experience with this?

Digging up an oldddddddddddddd thread here... How did fixing this go? Did you drill it out and retap it or helicoil it? I was going to try dropping the pan on my SC400 trans and the first bolt snapped. Haven't even tried the rest yet.
you are on the right track... might not have to helicoil it... just drill it, run a tap... worst case scenario, then you helicoil it...
Got weirdly lucky. When I went to drill it, it actually threaded what was left of the fastener higher up into the threads. Having broken it loose, I press hard into it, reversed my drill, and it backed right out. So weird. Luckily didn't have to helicoil, just need to get a new bolt.
