Default 1997 ES300 head gasket leaking problem

Hi there, I have a 97 ES300 and there is an external leak from the head gasket. I know there was alot of problem with te 92-96 camry/es300 with this problem and there was a recall. I checked and there's no recall on the 97, but can I get one? It may not be on as many cars, but the same problem happened again. Anyone have dealt with this issue lately?

Thanks

I haven't read about any such recalls on the 97-01 ES models. I have an ES and have experienced no such leak (touch wood). Whats the mileage on your car?

Are you sure it's the headgasket or are you confusing it w/your front bank valve cover gasket?

you have one open recall for recall XL7

steering wheel nut might not be tightened sufficently, and it says your status is "Not Completed" go to your lexus dealership for next oilchange or sooner and have them take care of the problem, it will be free, just tell them you have an open campaign XL7 on your car
sorry its not for a head gasket though
anyone else?

Sounds like a rather difficult maintenance problem to look over, so I'm moving this to the Maint. forum.

only recall on head gaskets i can think of around those years was on the 3.0Ls in the pickups and the 4 runners. and that was a MAJOR recall, none that i can recall on the 1mz engine, these are pretty reliable motors, ive seen a handful of them need headgaskets in the last year, and we do easy 100 cars a day on a slow day.
