SC300 Wont Start!!!HElp!!
HI everyone I am a new member and am looking for some help.
My '95 lexus sc300 will not start the only thing that it does is make a clicking noise when I turn the key. I do not think it is the battery cause the radio window and all other electronics(including lights) work fine and show no signs of lost power. Could this be the alternator? Or is there some other kind of Lexus related "issue". Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like your starter is defective. I'm not too familiar with service items on the SC, but you may be able to find a equivalent part for the starter at a local auto parts store like Autozone, Pep Boys, etc. for a cheap replacement. Expect to pay major $$$ for the part at a dealership.
yep, like the others said, it sounds like a starter gone bad. you can either rebuild your current starter, or replace it with an oem or aftermarket unit. doesnt take long to replace.. just an hour or two on your back in the driveway with the jacks

Is this the starter for the 300 or the 400?
I hope it is for the 400 as mine is the 300 and maybe it can be more easily removed.

Ok never mind I just remembered that the 6 cylinder is a straight line motor.

Ok but does anyone have a pic of where the stater is on my 300 I think I found it underneath the car on the driverside and looks difficult to remove. Any pointer or ideas to make this easier for me to remove?

Ok guys thanks for the good info and help.
I have since replaced the battery and am now trying to remove the starter(what a pain in the but!!)
It is difficult to get to it though when you are in fulltime school and work part time.....but I will finf time to get to it
