does anyone know how to fix the cigarette lighter for power. I checked the fuse and its ok. I believe the unit that is stuck in the ashtray is messed up. Any advice?

Mine does not work either, you know how when it goes in, it's supposed to stay, and sorta click in?

Thats funny that you brought this topic up..I was just thinking about introducing it earlier today. I always notice that my radar detector isn't on because of that darn plug!! That could be a costly problem. It usually works if i jiggle it around for a minute though!

 

so i guess i wasn't the only one who had to jiggle the plug to get the radar dectector to work...

 

I also had the same problems plugging in my cellphone or radar detector on both my '94 & '03 ES's. I had to bend the side tang on the lighter socket to help it make contact.

 

Since no one has come up with a real answer here, I'm moving this to the Maintenance forum and see what help you can get there.

Make sure you got 12 volts at the cig. connector( if your fuse is good), then you probably need a new cig. lighter socket.

Most of the cell phone and radar detector adaptors are a bit bigger than the OEM cig. socket so it will spread out the cig. socket. Sometimes you will have to bend the side tang in.

 

Is there a safe way to bending this? I think this might be my problem since the cigarette lighter itself is loose in there.
