Default cigarette lighter outlet (not working)

Anybody know why my phone charger work when plugged in to the cigarette outlet? It works when i use the outlet in the center console but not the cigarette lighter . And the cigarette lighter itself doesnt work either so is the fuse blown possibly?

same happened to my car...since it was under warranty..they fixed it for me...basically what happened for my car, there is two metal pieces that suppose to come in contact with whater i plug in...and it got pushed out so much, when i plug something else in, it's not coming in contact so no power.

I plug alot of things on/ off in my cigarette lighter (ipod charger/ radar/ etc) and i guess the plug come in different size, causing this problem

I have the same with my car (95 sc400), I had a portable air pump plugged up and when I came back to check on it, it had cut off. I tried plugging my phone charger to the lighter and it will not work. I checked the fuse and it's good.. I'm still trying to figure out what happened to mine.. Any feedback with be appreciated..
