Angry Think I Am Gettin Screwed... HELP

Story:
I went to the dealership to get my car services because I had a bad ride quality in the front end of the car. It was very bumpy and the tires were not looking good. So they took a look at it and said that one tire was separating bad and the others had really bad wear on the tred. They also said that my brake fluid and coolent needed to be flushed and changed. So I agreed to it and had it done. However I just purchased this car 6,000 miles ago LEXUS CERTIFIED. To me all of that should have been changed and I should not be spending 1300 dollars after owning the car 3 months.

So I talked to the service manager and he said the tires would needed to be changed every 15,000 miles because they were Low profile. I think thats BS, I have had many low profile tires that lasted a hell lot longer then that. For the fluids he said they had to be changed every 15,000 miles too. That cannot be right. I am writing all of this to see what you all think. Let me know !!!

THANKS

Lexus doesn't have free maintenance schedule. All the maintenance is covered by the owner’s wallet. On the other hand, I do NOT believe the brake fluid or coolant are 15K interval items.
When it comes to tires, they are not all created equally.

You are definitely getting ripped. Chances are your brake fluid and coolant are fine. They are just padding to the bill. Get your Lexus serviced elsewhere.

Also, this serves as another proof that "Certified Pre-Owned" simply means "Used - bundled with extended warranty." A clever way to force extended warranty on unsuspecting car buyers.

IS tires are known to wear out extremely quickly... hell, when you buy the car new, there is a sticker on the windshield that says that the tires wont last past 15k due to the aggressive nature of the tire and alignment. So 6k miles ago, one could say that the tires could have been fine, meeting lexus "certified" standards. So you didnt get ripped on that one...

As for the coolant and brake fluid... how many miles are on the car? My dealership usually flushes out coolant and brake fluid every 30k miles. But we dont use scare tactics to do it... Sounds like that dealership isnt quite right...

Did you get/ask for a certification report? They should have it documented somewhere what was inspected and fixed if necessary prior to certifying it.

Coolant/brake fluid: Every 2 years is perfect. Hell you can do it every 15000 miles, but 2 years is what you should do.

My car has 54,000 miles on it. They said that everything met factory standard 7,000 miles ago. It just seems to me that its hard to believe that to be the case. Maybe I need to re think that but I have had cars with low profile tires and they have never gone out that fast.... Oh well... I guess i'll try taking it to Clearwater and see how they are. Thanks to all that helped !!

Car people lie. Money is the name of the game, and honesty is generally an obsolete design. Car dalesman will "pay off your old car" while subtly adding it to the cost of your new car, or increasing your financing charge to make up the difference, just like the magistrate claimed that (he) doesnt have any say whether or not the ticket is claimed on my insurance or not, its up to them, not me" when I fought a ticket last month, and lost.

Im becoming more and more bitter towards the world as these things continuously happen... but understand that in my area... you get a ticket, there is NO way out of it, even if your 75 yrs old, on your 14th fleetwood and have a 100% clean driving record.

Couldn't agree more. In the car business, honesty means "not get caught lying." Buyers beware.

Fortunately there are many websites that expose the sales tactics to level the playing field.

So why not tell us the name of the dealership, so we can stay away from it?

My senior-citizen mother (down in Florida) was charged for a $150 transmission fluid "change" at 2K-mi. When I complained (and said I wasn't satisfied and would indicate that to Lexus), they gave her a service credit for the $150.

To give everyone a update. I am still fighting with the dealership. The dealer is Lexus of Tampa Bay. Thinking that Lexus Corp. is going to have to get envolved. WHO KNOWS ????
