Prior to Dec. 2003 the filter for Lexus V6's (inc. 1MZFE) was the 90915-YZZB9
After Dec. 2003, the fitler for the V6 was changed to 90915-YZZD1.

Solid alternatives are Mobil 1 M1-102, and K&N Gold HP-1002.

The USA made Toyota#08922-02011 oil filter is another one that has
been tested and approved by Toyota for use on the 1MZ-FE V6 engines. All
Toyota dealers carry the #08922-02011 and it retails for about $6.00,
but is available at discount Toyota dealers like 1sttoyotaparts.com for
as little as $3.76

Yes there are some websites that claim the now discontinued Denso resin
element filters were alot better quality than the paper element
#08922-02011 or 90915-YZZD1, but the authors of those websites have
no real world engine wear comparison evidence to back up their claims.

How well does the paper element #08922-02011 protect a Toyota engine
in real life? I've been using it for 436,000 troublefree miles on my '92 4 cylinder
Toyota pickup http://www.saber.net/~monarch/436.JPG. The engine still
has like new compression and very low oil consumption. So the
#08922-02011, in combination with a Toyota air filter, has done an
outstanding job at preventing serious engine wear.

Might want to consider trying a Mobil 1 oil filter. They have synthetic media that filters out more harmful dirt & the like.

Use Genuine Toyota Filters. Trust me I worked on changing oil here at Haley Toyota in Richmond and worked on some lexus' and tons of toyotas every day wth off brand filters coming in and they werent worth anything by the looks of it. You can tell how well a person takes care of there car by looking at there oil filter. And the stated comment was right. 6 cylinder toyota/lexus cars now take a 90915-YZZD1 I can get them at quanties of 5 or more for 5 bucks a piece for retail customers.

Question

Si, are you saying that you notice a wear related problem even with customers have aMobil 1 oil filter on the car & when the oil & filter are changed at the correct intervals?

I have never seen a mobil1 filter honestly thats something that isnt popular at all around here. but things like penzoil ones or the generic jiffy lube or walmart done oil changes come in always incorrect amounts of oils nasty looking oil coming out and also they rarely if ever have the right drain plug gasket on if there is even one. Make sure you change that everytime. Not trying to sell in a non specifed forum but if any owners are interested in toyota oil filters drain plug gaskets etc and especially when buying 3 or more filters get ahold of me I can work you a deal. thanks

The Thai filters are fine, i opened one up. Just stay away from Fram/Pennzoil/Quaker State/Casite and you'll be fine.

I'm suprised you haven't seen any with the Mobil 1 filters Si, Mobil is based either in Virginia or West Virginia. The others you mentioned are garbage filters so no arguement there.

I think the 02011 is more expansive than YZZD1, I don't understand why either, I think other than one is thai made and one is US made, 02011 has a anti-drain valve but the other one does not. Can anyone confirm this?

All Toyota filters have ADBVs, there are ones made from nitrile, and silicone. The silicone ADBV is orange. Nitrile is black.
