My local Lexus dealership called me to set up my engine replacement. They placed the order and said it should arrive within 10 days. They said it should take a week to install the engine. I will receive a loaner car during the replacement. Finally I will receive the new engine. I currently have 61,000 miles on my LX600
Not the worse thing. You get a 61k mile engine credit, may be nice if you keep it long term.
I would be a little more upset if it happened at 10k.
My inquiring mind wants to know does Lexus keep track of your mileage through regular services and is that a deciding factor. Holding off to install in the higher mile ones first and foremost? 61k miles is pretty high, these have only been around 2-3 years.
I just dropped off my LX. They said it should take 8-10 days. They did not have an answer as far as a warranty on the new engine. Does anyone have some experience with engine replacement and expected warranty coverage?
I insisted that my dealership address the issue. They said their loaner fleet was only for short term use and wanted to give me a car through Enterprise. I agreed but insisted on a comparable vehicle and agreed to a Chevy Tahoe 2024. I also did not turn over my car since I didn’t want it parked in their lot exposed to the elements. So it’s parked in my garage waiting for the engine. I have very little confidence it will come soon. But at least I’m saving miles on the balance of my car parts and tires.
My dealership called yesterday saying my new crate motor has been installed and ready for pick up. They still have not given me an answer as far as the warranty on the new engine even though I asked them for an answer two weeks ago. Any thoughts on what type of warranty I should expect or demand from Lexus would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
is this the same engine Toyota is having problems with in their Tundras?
Yes they had to recall some 22 and 23 models.
The engines are the same design but the LX engine is built at a plant in Japan. As mentioned there is no issues known of outside of the recall dates.
I plan to run heavier weight oil in my LX recommended in the GCC and Australian owners manuals. The US manual just says 0-20 (assuming this is EPA mpg stuff).
