Default need a bit of direction

My GS recently started spitting out smog from the exhaust, so I went to my usual workshop to check and it was found that the engine oil was leaking into the pistons.

There are two options: 1) open the engine, replace what needs to be replaced, find other things to replace. 2) change the engine.

So I figured option 2 was most economical. So I’ve ordered a second hand-low mileage engine for the GS.

I received all the documentation, fright, invoices etc. But I didn’t receive a cert stating that the engine is in fact made/for the Lexus GS(maybe because it’s second hand).

That document is quite important, does anyone know how I can contact Lexus in Japan to either send the engine to them to verify that it is a GS engine or maybe if I can give them the engine number and they can send me a cert that it is the engine?

I just can’t seem to find any Lexus Japan contact details.

My local dealer (and the only dealer) says they don’t verify engines that aren’t bought through them. Which is quite disappointing.

Please help and offer some suggestions
Thanks alls

Welcome to CL!

Let me guess – Singapore doesn't approve of engine swaps?

I would try getting the info from Lexus Singapore first – the phone number is +6566311388. They'll probably ask you for the VIN, which is stamped somewhere on the engine block

It's also possible that the engine came from an IS350, since both the IS350 and GS350 use the 2GR-FSE engine.

Good luck!

If you can determine that the engine is a 2GR-FSE then it is the engine for a 2008 GS350.

I think that the problem is that he needs some official documentation stating that the engine is indeed the correct one for his car – OP is in Singapore, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if they have some proscription on engine swaps, unless you were swapping in another OE engine
