Default Second Key Fob Delivery ?

My wife and I purchased our LX600 F-Sport back toward the end of May 2024. It was delivered to us with a single push-button key fob, and a thin "credit card" key. The promise was that our second key fob would be available in the future - no date was given other than "later in 2024."

About a month or six weeks ago, we received notification via the Lexus app that we could schedule a service appointment and pick up our second key fob. I made the appointment at our local dealer last week, for today, and went in for the appointment. About 45 minutes later, they were done programming the new key fob and washing the truck.

Same process last year with our 2023 IS500. We recieved the second key fob about 4-5 months after taking initial delivery of the car.

Are new LX600s still only being delivered with one key fob, or are folks being provided with both now?

I've now bought two LX600s. Both times, two FOBs (along with the credit card key) were delivered with the vehicle.

Also, past Lexus purchases always came with 2 FOBs.

Interesting. I wonder if this is a dealer-specific thing, in terms of "conserving" key fobs when vehicles are delivered.

Thing is, we purchased our LX600 here at Lexus of Annapolis, and the IS500 in 2023 at Bobby Rahal Lexus in Mechanicsburg (Harrisburg area), PA.

My second one took 7 months to get. You should have been given the 2nd metal key insert at delivery as the 2nd fob does not come with it. You should have received the 2nd key fob cover at delivery also.

7 months !!! Wow.

You are correct on all counts. We did receive the extra metal key (to insert into the fob), as well as a second Lexus fob cover. We had them waiting in the glove box together with the owner's manual pack.

Took delivery of 2025 NX350h 6/3/24. Was told our second key might be available sometime in October. Contacted Lexus main office and was told it would probably be November delivery. Contacted them again and was told there may be a delay on the November delivery with no ETA on futures delivery. Dealership is no help on the matter, basically telling me that the second fob is due and promised by Lexus, not the dealership.

Given the variance reported here, I'm starting to think that this is a dealership-related thing. I have seen from other threads, that folks who have "raised hell" at the time of delivery of their new Lexus, insisting on a second fob, have been provided the fob (i.e. it's a deal-breaker and they walk away if they don't get the fob). And the dealer provided it.

Otherwise, I think it's a "dealership gets around to providing second fob when they get around to it" kind of thing.

I would bet its on the dealer. But the thing is, one of the items listed on my order was the FOB gloves. Which seem to come from the factory pre-packaged with quantity 2. So its a bad look for the dealer to deliver the car with two gloves and one FOB.

haha, that’s what happen to me. 2 gloves that I’ll never use and 1 key fob, 1 mechanical key and 1 card key.

You should have gotten TWO mechanical / metal keys along with your two gloves, fob, mech key and card key. One should mate up with each fob (whether delivered or pending). I would go to your dealer and INSIST on your fob, as well as a matching mechanical key. That's BS -- all Lexus should have two fobs + keys (whether given at delivery or later), and one card-key.

When I took delivery in Oct of last year I received
1-fob with mechanical
1-mechanical with no fob
1-card key
2-useless fob gloves.
I have since received my second fob (almost 10 months later)
They blamed it on the “covid chip shortage”

Just took delivery of our ‘24 LX F-Sport (replacing our ‘22 with a blown engine) and it came with 2 fobs and the credit card key.

That’s perhaps encouraging for new buyers.

I still think it to be a dealership thing, though. They get shipped an allocation of extra fobs, and then they figure out how to distribute them to previous buyers owed them vs. new vehicle deliveries.

we are now well out of the pandemic, and global supply chains have mostly recovered. I wonder why this part continues to be in such short supply.
