Default Installed LED reverse lights today

Good evening everyone. I purchased a couple LED reverse lights for our ride. I had a hard time choosing. There are so many out there. I wound up going with the JDM ASTAR. They are rated at 800 lumens each. Man they are bright. Everything it lit up when we put it in reverse now. I picked them up on Amazon for $20.00 for the pair. They had really good reviews. I took a few pictures below...

This is actually a good modification to do. The relatively low resolution backup camera system (from 2008) needs all the help it can get.

Thanks guys. It is like having headlights shinning backwards. Pictures do not do them justice. Takes about 1/2 an hour to do the whole job. I give it a one beer super easy rating. Here are the easy steps..

1) Remove the two tailgate carpeted panels. Also remove the stuff in them.
2) There are couple of screws in them to remove.
3) There are about a dozen or so interior clips behind the big plastic insert. I used plastic interior clip tools to gently pry up all around it. You can us putty knife, but make sure to wrap it with a thin cloth or tape to not scratch the paint. Just go around edges and pop up.
4) Just unscrew the old ones out, put the new ones in.
5) Do the reverse to reassemble.

I have a 2013. I bet they are all the same from 08-15. See if it will work for you.

Installed these today, 14 dollars on Amazon.

They definitely help the backup camera at night.

The only incandescent lights left are the two 194s in the bottom of the side mirrors, you have to disassemble the electrochromic side mirrors to get to them and they are covered with an opaque cover anyways.

Can anyone confirm me that the 921 LED work on 16" LX? I've heard some member didn't success with the LED yet.

If you picking LED bulbs for the backup lamps be careful not to pickup extremely bright lamps. There is a max light limit standard for the backup lamps. In fact, a very bright white lamp will take the priority over the red break lamps. be careful with your selection.

...bought some LED’s last night for my truck and was having trouble on how to install them. I thought that I had to take the screws out as well...but was afraid to pull the plastic insert. Lol! Then I came across this and after realizing the insert was just clipping on, it was smooth sailing. Thanks so much, scottone92
