When you say that it plugs directly into the male power supply plug, you mean there is no solder and insulation required? How long did it take?

I think that Escort bought the Blend Mount company.

The item shows a close up image but not of your specific vehicle. You basically unplug the connector that plugs into and powers the mirror functions. The power tap has two wires, a ground and power lead. You will need a voltage meter to determine which or the up to six wires you are looking for.

At the end of the power tap wires are soldered on "blades" that you stick into the back of the connector where the factory wires are inserted. These blades insert with some friction that hold them in place. You want to start by only half inserting the blade in each so that you can check it with a voltage meter to see which is hot when the ignition is turned on. I used the side of the cigarette socket as a ground for checking with the meter. After you determine where to plug in the blades in the back of the socket, insert them all the way and they will not come out. Replug in the connector and you are done. Your vehicle may vary as to where the connector plugs in but the blades still will insert in the back of the plug no matter.

After that mounting the blend amount bracket and hanging the detector is easy. They give you wire ties to pull the wiring up to make a neat package. This beats having the detector stuck to the windshield of on the hot dash. The detector fits right up under your rear view mirror and is hardly noticeable.

The BBE2000 was the proper mount for the device to fit right up under the mirror but is very adjustable.

I'll have to check out the Blendmount. I just got an Escort 9500ix over the weekend.

 

Everything was very straight ahead. The cable from ESCORT was at least an inch on the short side for the install.

The green cable (which was surprising was the positive). The white with black stripe was the ground. As well, the cable doesn't really stab or get stuck in the electrical harness. You basically insert it and then use a zip tie just above the fuse on the radar detector cable to "hold" it in place.

If I were doing this install again I would plan on hard wiring the cables. Then drilling through the secondary plastic mount (meaning there would be enough cable room) and the piece would snap back perfect into place.

The blind mount harness is extremely well done! No bounces or noise which I have seen from others. Probably going to upgrade my other vehicle now with the harness.





Now if I can just get my car bronzed!!

 

Nice images. I did get my connectors on my friends LX to go all the way in with a good bit of friction.

Thanks again, your instructions helped greatly so I thought I would add a few photos. My blend on the IS350 is very discreet but I used mikesmount, but this mount was very well designed. The potential problem with the mount is the suspension and the ability for it to vibrate and make sound. This mound is solid, has plenty of adjustments and a pivot.

Also, the advantage of blind mounting, beyond the clean install, is the elimination of theft. It's more discreet. Not glaring out there. So this led me to my next thought, if the machine has GPS and is serialized does escort need to build a stolen function into the device to eliminate theft?

 

If you don't mind ggebhardt can post pic of you setup? I never notice when this thing gets to 80 so I'm thinking investing in one of these. I need something to reference to, I would greatly appreciate it.

The laser jammers are installed behind the grill. My unit was installed by the dealer.
