Default Worth waiting for

I finally got my LX 570. I turned down a couple that were not exactly as I ordered (no RSES for me), and am glad I did. I only have 500 miles on it so am not too heavy on the gas pedal yet but it has lots of tourque. It handles better, rides better and feels lighter (more responsive) than my 470. Gas mileage seems about the same (15 mpg). However, it does not handle rough roads (washboard, gravel) as well. The sound system is amazing and I like the nav and bluetooth. Mercury Metallic with a gray interior just looks right to me. Contrary to some, I like the toggle switches. However, the doors unlock automatically, not smart in Houston. I'll be getting that custom feature changed ASAP. Otherwise, I am a happy camper!

Hey, i am in Houston too...maybe i can convince you to take it off-road one of these days! Just kidding...well, maybe half kidding.... Did you get the Mark Levinson system?

As for the rougher ride, my guess that it has to do with the X-AHC system. The cross-linking feature likely requires monotube shocks (as it does in the X-REAS system in the 4runner). Monotubes lasts much longer than standard shocks (twin-tubes) and better for dissipating heat (good for off-roading), but it is stiffer-riding.

Nice looking LX BTW...the look is slowly growing on me.

Welcome to the 570 show!

Yep, one of the very first things I got fixed was all the doors unlocking when I slipped it in park!

So, what operation did you change it to?
I do not want them to unlock automatically, ever!.

There are a dozen or so "customizable features" (page 706 of the voluminous owners manual), but I can't change any of them. You have to take it to your dealer.

Door locks, lights, moon roof, wireless remote, etc. All the settings seem OK to me except the automatic unlock.

I simply got them to change it from the default setting. The default is to unlock all doors when placing the gearshift into park.

I had them change it to leave all doors locked when shifting into park.

These settings can be accomplished by anyone if you know how. I know that the secrets were reveled on some of the older models but not on the 570 yet. The dealer will change these for you without a problem.

I simply did not think that all the doors should unlock when I shifted into park! I would rather unlock the single door myself. Just opening the door from the inside unlocks it. I do not wish all the others to be unlocked, too.

Congratulations ! - Love the color combination- Mine is at the dealer getting prepd - will get it in a couple of days - same colors with RSES (kids can't do without it !) - I was negative about the 570 after the first test drive however, couldn't belive Lexus could go that wrong with their flagship SUV - so decided to order it - will post pictures and news as soon as I get a chance.
Best wishes
