Default 1990-2000 ECU list for North America (Yamae)

This list of ECU part numbers was complied by Yamae.

This will help to define which ECU's are in the North American spec LS400's. We've seen some different ECU's part #'s among the LS400's so not all are generically one part# for all models.

If your ECU has a different part# please post it in this thread.

This is not for capacitor fixes/requests. Any posts that follow the ECU capacitor fixes are to be posted in this thread:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...capacitor.html

As far as I investigate the variation of the ECU for the North American market, there are ECUs as follow.

For California, 89661-50234 is used replacing 89661-50230 / 89661-50231.

so if 89662-50010 is the engine computer, which by the way has a list price of $7,635.71, is 89661-50502-84 just the same part but remanufactured? and that one has a list price of $1,301.67

Thank for the information and the detailed photos, sha4000. As Stroock639 and you just posted, there are some more ECUs other than the list at the post #1. The list is only the collection of data obtained from the manufacturing and the parts suppling information. Other than those, there are ECs (Engineering Changes) and TSBs. These are not yet covered.

For examples, according to one of the TSBs, 89661-50224 is used replacing 89661-50220 (factory installation 10/1994-02/1995) / 89661-50221 (factory installation 02/1995-08/1995) as a countermeasure for the engine halt problem at certain conditions. For California, 89661-50234 is used replacing 89661-50230 / 89661-50231.

As sha4000 kindly informed us, it would be nice to update the list by members here. I'm away from North America and I only can do a little. When you guys remove the ECU box and open to replace capacitors, I expect you to see the ID number and post it here.

You list:
"89661-50032, 09/1990-08/1992"

That is the part number for my 1991 California car with no TRAC. Photos of the circuit boards are posted on the ECU cap repair thread.

In that thread, it is discussed that the TRAC version has one more capacitor than mine does. I don't know if the ECU part number is different too.

Yamae my question for you is can a 1996 LS (-50303) ecu be used in a 1995 LS (-50220) without a problem? Thanks.

Since I live in Japan and I did not have tried that but for a 95 Celsior, I have tried to use a 96 Celsior's ECU 89661-50380 replacing from 89661-500241 which is for a 95 Celsior and the result was quite OK. After changing, there was no more engine stop after the long high speed run. A guy named Dutchy also tried it and he was happy with the results. He became much happier after changing capacitors.
