-immobilizer (can be bypassed)
-180km/h speed limit in JDM ECUs (can be bypassed)
-56 and 57 DTCs in JDM ECU, they stand for integrated hydro fan control that's unique for Japanese models. However, unlike in 1992 model, the 56DTC does not affect driveability

Here's the ECUs I tested with my '2000 1uz-fe engine (UCF21 Celsior)
JDM:
89661-50450
89661-50520
89661-50521
89661-50522
European:
89661-50440
USDM, Soarer
89661-24530

Also, there's extremely rare ECU with part number 89661-3A300. It's for 150 series Toyota Crown, 1uz-fe vvti, and it does not have security system. It's compatible with all ECUs listed above. Note that 170 series Crown has immobilizer system and is NOT plug and play compatible to these ECUs.
Are 89661-3A300, -3A310, -3A320 all plug and play?

3a320 is 4wd afaik
3a300, 3a310 do not have mpx communication bus, and they are speed limited . abs/trc comm.protocol is probably different

they will suit for engine conversion but may not suit for complete LS400 for the reasons listed above

I'd be using it for an engine conversion. Just wanted to make sure my Celsior/LS400 harness would plug in without re-pinning.

Unhappy 500241 swap

After changing, there was no more engine stop after the long high speed run. A guy named Dutchy also tried it and he was happy with the results. He became much happier after changing capacitors.

I think your idea would be OK.
Hi there all Sifus....

I found this web by accident long time ago n totally forgot about this form web.

Ok used to owned LS400 92 (used car) but sold it already as to many problems and mostly the car will at the w/shop rather than been driven. So I can’t cope with the repair cost and bought another LS400 95 (UCF21). Car runs perfect until my ECU was out. Doing around 120k KM..(KM as I’m from Asia) Called up a friend and try to use his ECU and my car runs perfect and when he installed mine, his car was running crazy. (Car will not move in D & 2 except for 3rd and L) R is ok though.. and all warning ⚠️ indicators is like disco light - on and off.. So I can confirm that it was the ECU. Yamae had compiled very good info for this ECU part number. 👍👍👍..

The only problem is that my ECU part number wasn’t in that list. Mine came with 500241 and same goes to my friend. Had tried to look for this ECU here and there but no luck and not even close of finding it except for brand new that is crazy expensive.. really crazy, ridiculous, damn expensive..😱😱😱..

So really need some guidance on which ECU I can use without any issues to interchange for mine. Car had been sitting in the wshop since November last year 😖😪😩😫.... Had tried to repair the ECU but the board is in really bad condition as the capacitor had ruin the board. Send it to few COUNTRIES... including US...but end up being ship back to me untouched. Was told I must look 👀 for exactly same ECU part number by this repairer company in order for the car to run smooth.. 😓😓😓😓😓😓

So really appreciate if anyone can give me some input.. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

The ECU 500241 is for a JDM Celsior. Is your car a RHD version of LS400 for Oceania and other RHD countries?
We used to find 500241 at Yahoo Auction Japan time to time but it was long time ago. Anyway, a 500241 has a engine halt and some other problems when the car is aged and the intake manifold is badly clogged, you'd better to use a 500380 which can compensate the problem. The problem is that you can't find it easily any more. It would have been easier if you have had acting up several ago.

There are many variations of the model to meet regulations of each country. Now I understand that the Malaysian model of a 95 shares the same ECU for a 95 Celsior.

Regarding the ECU 89661-50380, I found it at below. But it is written all in Japanese and is ridiculously expensive. According to what it says, the seller won't ship abroad. If you want to bid, you need to use some agent like I once have introduced those to Dutchy in Holland.

Wow....Yamae...u managed to look for 1 though it’s been only few days...very much thanks..

Yup that’s ridiculously expensive for 2nd hand ECU plus never know how long it’ll last before the capacitor starts to leak out..ok I found this person from eBay that mentioned all ECU LS400 from all model he can repair. I had email him regarding this board of my ECU and still waiting for his response. Hope I’ll get good news from him. Will update here for any update. And if he can do it I believe it’ll help a lot of LS owners in here. As this car is a bit aged but to me it’s still much better than newer car nowadays like my other car, the Camry Hybrid. This LS to me is much more comfortable than this Camry..just in my own opinion...

Just some update....

Received email from Toyota. They told me that the ECU I’m looking for is in their stock n brand new still wraps. Unfortunately the warranty is only maxed to 10 years. And as my ...jaws fall apart when they told me the price tag. With insurance plus shipping to my doorstep 🚪.. it’s sumwher around US 3900 to US 4200....😂😂😂

In case your current ECU can't be repaired, what are you going to do? Do you search more and more until the correct ECU can be found?

In case you can't wait, there may be a way to use an ECU for a USDM 95 or 96. The American market was the biggest for Toyota and the possibility to obtain a used ECU is higher. ECUs below for American market are semi-compatible with JDM Celsiors of 95-96. The meaning of semi-compatible is that there are some minor issues but as far as I know, the engine runs. The evaporation control system and some others are different and something has to be done. But I don't know the detail and sorry that I can't give you enough information. I once have seen a guy was trying to use a 96 Celsior's ECU to his 95 USDM LS400. The engine was started and he was driving his LS400 for sometime.
ECU ID Manufactured
89661-50220, 10/1994-02/1995

89661-50231, 02/1995-08/1995 CALIFORNIA SPEC
89661-50290, 10/1994-02/1995 USA TAIWAN SPEC
89661-50291, 02/1995-08/1995 USA TAIWAN SPEC
89661-50302, 08/1995-09/1995
89661-50303, 09/1995-08/1996

89661-50340, 08/1996-09/1996

The California spec ECU is designed to meet the strict smog regulation there and the engine performance is slightly different.

Ok so I might or better say I can try to use the 50221 ECU right. Ok the person on eBay also had responded. Mine might not be able to be repair as capacitor and some other electronics might be replaceable but when it come to repair the board, there’s nothing he can do about it but to look for identical ECU which I did and the one u found that is too expensive. Toyota haven’t respond to my question regarding using other ECU. They only insist me of getting the one they have in stocks now. Anyway I will try purchase the 50221 and hope for the best result...(crossing my fingers now.. )

Will make the purchase by this week.

thank you for ur amazing support Yamae...

I have a 1993 LS400 that came from Hong Kong (its right hand drive) and it currently has an issue with the ECU (so Lexus have told me).

The ECU part number on mine is 89661-50180.

Can anyone advise who I could send my ECU to for inspection and hopefully a repair?

Thank you
