Default Pleated interior door trim

I currently drive a 4GS and potentially in the market for a lightly used LS500. I'm in Canada.

When I first read about the new LS before it launched, Lexus talked alot about the origami-inspired pleated door trim on the LS. Fast forward to now, when I look at samples, I just see regular door trims on the LS and haven't seen a single pleated one. Did they not bring this option to Canada? How prevalent is it in the states and how is it to maintain(ie. Dust?)

They brought it over to US and Canada, its just nobody really ordered it as dealers are not ordering it.

Was it costly to order in the states?

I personally think it's beautiful and brings the interior feel up to exotic luxury car levels.

I think it only comes with the fully-loaded ($100k+) LS. There is a clear plastic piece covering that door trim so you can't touch it directly.

There is nothing covering the pleated part, you can freely move your hands up and down the cloth pieces. Also correct it is usually found on the $100K plus ones.

Sorry I misread, I thought he was asking about the kiriko glass portion.

I'm not even seeing this option speced in the top end $133k cars with the highest Executive package here in Canada and it's not in the online configurator. Will probably have to go to a dealer to find out why.

Do any members here have this option and what do they think of it?

Not sure for Canada but I priced one with it, which came to $105,175. I tried to do the same on Canada site but struggled as the packages and setup are a little different but finally got it. You have to select either caviar or magnese luster to get the herringbone pattern price came out to $138,009 CA. Hope this helps I still haven't seen one in person, hoping to see one at autoshow.

I wonder if buying the door panels new from the parts department vs buying them as an option

I've only seen one of these at my dealer. I just did a quick search of a few local dealerships and I am only seeing one with this trim available, listed at about $116k.
