You state "Besides entrusting me with a $100k car as loaner, they're also replacing the sunroof under warranty, replacing the brake pads under warranty, etc. Go Lexus!"
Are you stating that your new LS500 already needs to have its sunroof and the brake pads replaced? How many miles are on it? How long have you had it?

Regarding any possible Turbo-lag, I don’t see it. Some may have an issue with downshifting timing in various Auto modes. I stumbled upon a turbo charge gauge setting for in the middle of the dash. It’s an option to watch the pressure instead of the music you are listening to, and more fun. So I now have a setup of speedometer outside, tachometer, which is outside the atmosphere ratio. The turbo seems to spin up almost instantly when hitting the accelerator. If someone is test driving a 5, I recommend you set your display to watch it.

With the new cabin being so quiet, both my wife and I have noticed a relatively loud sound from behind our heads. Has anyone else heard this noise in the new LS500? The AC system is actually pretty quiet, but this sound from behind is heard clearly before the ML system plays anything. My only guess is that the sound comes from the front seats' fan trying to cool down the seats after the car had parked in the hot sun for a while. Anyone shedding some light on this?

It is the seat cooler. Drove me crazy the first few days I had the LS500 loaner. Go into the menus and make sure the seat coolers are on auto instead of high--that fixed it for me.
The bright side is that new seat coolers are WAY more powerful than those in the LS-460s.

In my opinion, spare tires are obsolete. Before cell phones, you ran the risk of getting stuck in the middle of nowhere with a flat, and had no way of getting help. Today, a tow truck is only a phone call away.
I've been driving 35,000 - 40,000 miles per year for the last 20 years, and have had only 1 flat, and that was my fault for waiting too long to get new tires. I knew I needed them, but it kept slipping my mind and the steel belts wound up wearing right through the tread. I changed the tire myself (in my business clothes) and what should have taken 15 minutes wound up taking 45 because lug nut number 5 was crimped down so tight, it took me about 20 minutes to finally get it to budge. Nearly knocked all my teeth out twice when the wrench slipped off the nut. By the time I finished, I was so hot, sweaty and grubby, I swore never again. I'll wait for a tow.
For the hugely improved ride, I'll take my chances and spend 30 minutes to an hour surfing on my phone while I wait for a tow.

Not only that, it's not legal to change a tire in many situations, you will be told by a trooper to get back in your vehicle. I know it's not worth the money, but I have AAA Plus, so worst case scenario the flatbed takes me home, and I change the tire there with a snow tire or remove the wheel for a patch. Agreed that no jack, no worry.

Anyone else having the problem with the HUD displaying the right outside temperature? Or displaying it at all on the HUD? Although not one of the most important pieces of information, but nice to see it up there on the HUD at times.

Just took a long road trip in our Autumn Shimmer LS 500 from the San Francisco Bay Area to Las Vegas. In all my years of owning a LS, from LS 400 to 460 to this new 500, it was the first ever and multiple times when others praised the beautiful, although sometime controversial, styling of the car, especially the front grill. It occurred at gas stations while refueling, in front of hotel entrances, and even with another driver from the next lane while in very slow traffic on Las Vegas Blvd. Although my wife and I enjoy driving and riding in the car the most, it was very interesting for other strangers to compliment the car.

It looks like Dave's message to warn posters who are simply here to bash the 5LS has made a difference; the noises are down. So let's get back to sharing our thoughts and experiences. I started this thread for owners to share their respective impressions, questions, recommendations, and etc. etc. We can all agree to disagree, but I'd like this thread to become a place from where we get useful information.
Between my wife and I, our LS 500 accumulated over 5000 miles in about three months. So far everything has been pretty satisfactory. But we are really curious about those who have been able to get 30+ MPG mileage wise. Anyone with some good tips, aside from not full-throttling the car too many times? :-)

I saw an LS500 in the parking lot this morning parked next to a current S Class Mercedes. The style of the LS really stands out! It makes the S class look just a bit frumpy and old fashioned.

not a 500 owner but might as well be considering work at a dealership as a technology specialist and im inside them pretty much all the time, so i shall live vicariously through you guys. lol
when you look at these cars all day long, it becomes mundane, but holy dear god what they look like out in the wild! truly, there is absolutely nothing else like them on the road.
i know these cars pretty well, but i dont know everything. however if anyone here has some questions about them i might be able to help. thing is, every time i spend time in one alone, i discover something new i didnt know was there, like a treasure hunt. its fun. so you can learn some stuff from me, i can probably learn some stuff from you guys too.
btw, @shinonclub, love the Autumn Shimmer. its one of my favorite colors, but i haven't seen an LS in the flesh yet wearing it. not super popular. kind of obscure and not many people going for it honestly. dont know why. probably wont be offered much longer because of that sadly.

On this thread, you teased us with a post (#10) over 2 years ago about getting the rear view camera to work while moving forward. Many of us would love to know how to activate that secret feature! Thanks for the reveal!
