Great responses, thorough and well explained.

When I mentioned about the turbo lag, I meant from a dead start, but next time I test drive one I'll make sure it's in the right driving mode.

I saw an article that someone is coming up with small electrical motors for the turbo that spool it up quicker to almost eliminate the lag. I think there might me a MB that either has it now or will shortly. I would imaging that this will become standard in a few years to eliminate the issue

Do you mean throttle tip in rather than "lag"? I know what you mean about having to give it a little kick to get going (though pwr mode helps) but there is zero "lag" from a N/A V8 IMHO. Put a 430 or 460 in manual mode, hold a gear and goose it, there should be zero lag, the beauty of a good old NA V8.

OP great review, glad you love your car!

Thanks for sharing first impressions and congrats on your new car! I share the frustration with you on the car's ride, tech, and other oddities, even for someone as yourself who's been in the LS family for years. These points will be a tough sell on conquer sales/leases from drivers of another brand. Hopefully Lexus will improve on some of these points, though some are here to stay I'm afraid. I really think that you could improve some of ride by swapping out run-flat tires, but with no space for a spare, you'd have to either risk it or buy a kit, or lose the trunk entirely. I don't think this car as it sits in the market will fare well, even compared to the LS460's meager numbers, but time will tell. I SINCERELY hope Lexus makes some quick improvements in it where they can. I'm a huge fan of the brand, and wanted to want this car more than anything.

Unlike the impression from some of the posts on this thread that the new LS 500's ride is not as tranquil as previous LS 4XX models, my wife's and my experience with our LS 500 has proven the complete opposite. The ride is firm when you wanted it to be (i.e., at Sports or Sports+ settings), but otherwise, it has been very pleasant and much better than our previous LS 400 and LS 460. And with the new ML sound system's noise cancelling feature, the overall cabin experience is even more luxurious. Overall, much more joyous to drive and to ride in the new LS.

Test drove yes the H, jerky. The F sport, too nervous a road feel. Have not driven a normal LS500.

As I said a little more than two months ago, the normal LS500 drives really well. Compared to our 07 LS460, the 5LS wins hands down. Now with almost 5000 miles on the odometer, we love this car even more. Such a joy to drive it; and rare for me, even a joy to ride in the back seat on the passenger side!

As I indicated in my other thread, actually, you can. I used a decimeter (Meets IEC61672 and ANSI S1.4 ) weighted A tool, and the S class is 2-3 db quieter at 145km/hr. The 5LS generates the same noise as a Genesis G90T, for whatever that's worth for people.

Buying the quietest car I can afford is one of the critical points in my decision making criteria at the moment as I drive a lot for work, so just wanted to provide that data point.

Try it without the run-flats.

Open to the idea. I'm not sure if I just replied to your post in the other thread but then that's also not fair then with respect to running regular tires on the S. I would then presume both cars would be quieter.

I wasn't attempting to compare the LS to anything else, just stating that they made a really poor choice with the tires (that came with my car, at least), and after switching to a good set of conventional tires, the ride improvement is like night and day, and it's hard to imagine a car being significantly more quiet.

Oh I see. Apologies for that. Good to know and thanks!
