Yikes.
I agree with his OPINIONS. I did not buy the Fsport for reasons he mentioned but its subjective to personal taste. I found the FSport interiors lacked the "Zen Flow" as it was a bit busier?. That very thing is why some might like it? Again, all subjective.
As a 2025, It is very outdated. I agree.
Does not "break my heart", I bought mine 3 years old with 28k miles for 43% off MSRP. For the money its a great car and I love it. For the money you can't own a 8 cyl german flagship. Not even close.
Yes, the LS did build Lexus. The RX also did too. They were first to offer a luxury midsize SUV and they have sold a lot of them.
Sentimental about its heritage and new models "Failing that heritage" but respect the love owners have for their well preserved and loved 400-30-60's.
I don't go on their forums and expound the virtues of a more modern car. If they want one, they can come here and discuss.
What does a Audi A8, 7 series bimmer, or S class buy for $95,000? He don't mention them , just "flagship to flagship". I get it.
His issues are infotainment, Fsport seats, over engineered brakes, and "Flagship exclusivity". Im coming up to 3 years of ownership and for the price then for a well equipped New luxury package ES I got my LS500.
Im not going to tell new LS owners they should feel bad. This car his not sold well and we all know its outdated as a current model.
When I looked at at 2023 ES it paled in comparison to what I bought. Used with no warranty vs. new ES is not apples to apples. This is so very true. But I was about cost vs. cost. And them apples were the same.
New LS500 made their choice and perhaps compared to other flagships costing tens of thousands more? Sure they are more modern and came with a higher price.
Money talks. I was never going to spend $95k on a new car.
I like this guys reviews. I like he looks at build quality as a mechanic. His review on the Toyota Crown Signa pointed out some things I was impressed with. I like that he sticks to Toyota/Lexus products then bounce around. In a few years I might swoop in and buy a low mile one as I like to. The LC500 to me has been the flagship for some time now.

Tesla has historically ignored the Model S, but compared to that, Lexus has basically abandoned the LS. The LS500 feels more like a GS model.

I came from a 2020 GS to my 2019 LS500. I disagree. LS500 is signficanlly faster, more comfortable, interior materials superior.
It lacks the road feel but luxury does that on purpose. It handles great but you don't feel it. That was a trade off I understood.
No doubt the LS500 is antiquated and should have been killed off a few years ago. Perhaps dealers wanted it still they kept at it. Its tired.
Over the years one could get a basic model for about 75k with same drive train all the way to a $132k executive model with cut crystal details inside.
Im actually looking at the Tesla S given its staggering and horrific depreciation. The pricing has me intriiqued.
Thing is the interior design leaves me uninspired. Very nice exterior. Looks like the LS! LOL
Again money talks.

the features that made the LS400 amazing are not the same things that make an LS500 amazing.
they are 2 different cars that happen to share the same nameplate.
the LS500 is a sports sedan.
there is nothing sporty about the LS 400/430.
personally, I find a lot in common w/ the LS500 and the 2nd gen (v8) GS400/430 of 1988-2005. Both are sports sedans with well tuned, semi-high performance engines that provide a balanced blend of luxury and sportiness.
i generally like this guy as he seems to really know car mechanics, but it's definitely part of his MO doing 'negative' videos with titles like: 'don't buy it' and 'sad truth'.

Does not handle bumps as well? as previous LS? Ok, but I dig the cornering this car does. Im good with the trade offs. Thats me.
Its not perfect nor priced as an non compromise vehicle.
I never shopped the mercedes, Audi or BMW. I paid 49k brand new for my GS as nobody wanted it (msrp 60k) 6 weeks before covid hit. Three years later traded getting $42k with just 24k miles. bought the LS500 with 28k miles for $56k.
Thats my perspective. I upgraded with some tax for about 15k. Im thrilled with it.
That its currently antiquated vs. New Teutonic builds is not my concern. Im not offended by anyone saying it does not measure up. But its silly to not mention the pricing of these cars as if money don't matter. They are not the same.

The 460 was just trying to keep up to all of the other sedans in the class. It has a hint of athleticism and power but that's it.
I wanted to disagree with him, but he was completely right about features, and the parts bin stuff. The S-Class, A8, G90, etc. are all more comfortable, quieter, more luxurious, spacious, and have the handling and power.
The LS is dead. 250 units to be made next year.

You cant get a base model in the others for 75k.
He is correct for 2025. This car was introduced in 2017 to the world. It was designed in a time when emissions mattered in some markets.
The Germans considerably more! G90 is close and its a new design. I suspect they are not selling well in this market.

On the other hand, they’ve done very little for electrification.
The Longevity for the LS is not for its stellar sales or innovation. Its basically so dealers have something in that class for ultra loyal or those who lease and they want them to hold on until they drop the next flagship thing. It was financially smart to not bring another model to market given the low sales of high end sedans and they basically kept prices near flat over its model life.
Do cars in this market really appeal to saving MPG? Im talking for the masses.
I don't knwo what Lexus does next given the current market conditions?
High Performance hybrid is not logical. How has the higher end Crown sedan been received? Its a very different price point. Adds weight. Spend 150k to save MPG? EV ? Need range and performance. Is it desirable in the market? Offer both?
