Default 30k miles service package

Hi everyone!

I have a 2022 with a little over 32k miles. My dashboard says "Maintenance Required". I just booked an appointment with a Lexus dealer and it will cost me almost $1000 for this 30k miles service package. Is it worth it? I also have extended warranty.

Have you ever gotten this service done at a Lexus dealership?

you've probably figured out since posting the maint. required light likely refers to a 5k interval for an oil change and can be reset by you. just google the procedure. it's the same on most (all?) toyota products.

that said, having owned lexus for over 25 years now, absolutely do all scheduled maintenance including the recommended inspections. it's always been a key component of the brand's great reliability.

finding a local toyo specialist you find to be trustworthy is always recommended. many of them were previously dealership techs who opened their own shops. until then, yes the dealership charges a premium but also comes with the piece of mind of dealing with people who are knowledgeable and professional

There is a lot of “inspect”, not enough replace. A little rich IMO. I generally only get oil changes at the dealer and only when there is a special or coupon.

I’m cheap 😂😂😂

You wonder if they even remove all of the engine compartment cladding. It's pure profit for the dealership.

I have heard of dealers that do an inspection video for the owner. Seems sort of silly, but would be better than nothing.
Replacing brake fluid is a big one. I have owned over 40 vehicles and only remember doing this on 2 of them. Seems like a ridiculous thing to do at 30,000 miles.

I didn’t do my 06 GS300 brake fluid replacement during coverage and didn’t have paperwork that I did. Down the road my rear calipers were starting to freeze because of a known issue with the slide pins. A mechanical issue but was refused because of it. I call corporate but they didn’t cover it.

Brake fluid is hygroscopic. This can cause corrosion and reduced brake performance over time. It's one of the only services on this list that I would approve. The other inspections are bogus.
