AGM Battery, NOT!
Does anybody have any idea why Lexus doesn’t install AGM batteries in all of its cars?
Lexus Dealer replaced the Yuasa 630 cca amp battery in my 2020 LS500 with another non-AGM battery.
It’s an Interstate 770cca 84 month battery with Lexus stickers over the Interstate name.
I thought all cars now came with an AGM battery.

Maybe it doesn’t matter anyway.
The last 2 AGM batteries I had in a Honda and a Ford didn’t last very long.

Unless you specified the significantly more expensive AGM equivalent, they installed the correct battery. I don't let the dealer do any of the easy stuff like this. Allows full control over what is installed. With that said, not sure if Techstream or another system is required to tell the car you are replacing the battery. I know the Germans require this.
Apparently cars with stop/start engine feature usually require AGM.
That’s one feature I don’t miss. Glad Lexus didn’t put stop/start in the LS. I had it in a 2018 F150. OE AGM battery in that truck lasted 3 1/2 years.
$179 for this new flooded cell battery. 770 cca > than the OE battery. They quoted me $250 over the phone. Maybe that was for an AGM. Anyway, I had more important things on my mind and didn’t even think to ask until I got home and took a close look.
I did request to talk to a mechanic about excessive white exhaust smoke in cold weather under heavy throttle. He seemed a little amused that an LS owner even floors the accelerator. His assessment was same as mine.
The rather complex exhaust system, GPFs, CATs, resonators, mufflers on each exhaust system collect a lot of moisture in cold weather. It can be a little embarrassing at times, but coolant level never drops.
Not ashamed to use all 416 horses. I love this car.
