Navigation update for 2017 LS460
Hello everybody. Have 2017 LS460 with original map database released in 2016. Every so often I am running into issues when using my navigation because there are many things got changed since 2016 in my area. New roads were built, some highway exits got moved and so forth. So I am trying to get it updated but it seems to be mission impossible. When I go to the dealers (went to several of them) they saying that there are no updates. When I ask them when they going to have them, dealers are saying that the updates coming out once a year and nobody knows when. When I ask to sell me ANY update, anything newer than I have, they saying it is not possible. So I call Lexus tech support hoping to get a part number for the SD card with one of these updates and the tech support tells me that these updates coming out once a year and I need to go see my local Lexus dealer and to get it updated. Basically everybody pointing fingers at each other. Have anybody ever updated maps on these cars at all? Please drop a line if you know anything about it. Thanks.
I guess keep calling different dealers. I can't imagine it would be that hard to get!
As an aside, I don't use the built-in the navigation. There's no way it can compete with Google and Waze no matter how new your data is. I do like having updated maps, however, just so it has the newer roads and the updated speed limits.

Lexus has changed the way maps get updated over the years. It might not be an SD card, it will definitely be dealer access only. I would think a 2017 is old enough for map updates to be available. I agree with DerrickM, call another dealer. Maybe Toyota can do it as well. They use the same systems.

Quick update on the situation here. So I decided to call few other dealers little further away and the receptionist in one of them transferred my call to their parts instead of service department. Parts guy actually was very helpful and he said that he can order one of these updates and when it arrives he will let me know and at that point I would have to schedule an appointment with the service folks to get it installed. Unfortunately I forgot to ask how much would that be but at least we moving in the right direction now. I'm just surprised that nobody in all these service departments I called earlier knew that it needs to be ordered by parts people first.
If you can change a cd you can update your map yourself, this is what the dealer would do for about $200

So, eventually it is done. Last Thursday micro SD card with the map database that I ordered earlier came in and today I went to the dealer to get it installed. In the beginning I was told that it would cost $600 and change and I was about to decline this kind of nonsense, but in reality it was $260. Card itself is $210 and $40 for some other baloney. Not as cheap as I was hoping for it to be, but not too crazy either. At least I'm up to date now. Lol.
