I received a letter from Lexus a little over a year ago that in October my 2014 LS460 and others will lose features such as navigation, crash detection and others that I cannot remember.

A few months ago I asked my Lexus dealer about it and they had "kinda" heard about it and there was no work around.

Can anybody fill me in on the status?

Cell network is no longer going to support your car

 

What loss of 3G cell service means: the SOS, Enform services such as sending routes to your car, any kind of communication between car and Lexus. Your sat nav system will still work. Newer cars use a different communication band and Enform will work. No one seems certain of what kind of fixes Lexus has for these 3G dependent cars if any.

It is my understanding that they have none and are pursuing none. It's old tech at the end of it's life cycle.

It would probably require an install of a new receiver and getting it to interface with the original system. Likely too difficult and expensive to do as a campaign or as an owner. This affects all makes of car using 3G.
