2007 LS460 L HDD map update
Hello,,,
Does anyone know where I could get the security code to update the navigation map on the new Lexus LS460 L? I used my lexus in the states for a few months then took it with me to Dubai and no one knows how to update it here. I looked online and found the necessary information to update the map however, it requires a security code to be uploaded to the map upload device and can't seem to find it.

Apparently map update on 07 LS460 can only be through a dealer for a hefty price, 3-4X what it costs for other Lexus models. Lexus owes it customers a remedy for this.

Let us know how this goes.
I believe that i can get McGrath to do it for free for me, but i do not want to add the miles/depreciation to the car to drive from Columbus OH to Chicago IL which would be worth a LOT more than even $400 (Lexus map update charge).
Bare in mind though, Lexus also charges $169 for the module, but two hours of labor or so. . .which jacks the price way up.
If you happen to get this down to just $169 plus tax i'll be trying the same thing.

Just wanted to report back on getting my maps updated on my 2007. The toyota dealer could not do it. Sent me to the Lexus dealer and got it it done for $169 plus $14 sales tax for a total of $183. There was no labor charge. This was done in Charleston, SC. Hope this helps.

Looks like I may be taking out my Nav again...Not to update but to make attempts to clone the hard drive to see if larger drives or SSD's can be used. Because I can and I'm a nerd ok....

Bet you get bit by some idiotic addressing limitation such as only 100 entries per starting letter allowed or a silly drive sector limit. End result will be that car sees small drive whatever actual size drive you put in. Also, not sure what you'd get out of SSD - is speed or drive reliability really much of an issue with OEM units?
