Default VSC System Check + ....

Here we go....

Driving along highway this has happened more than a few times recently. Warning to check VSC system, check engine light and icon showing car with skid marks... also, the nav would go dark and reboot including reconnecting to my phone. A couple times a bright right warning light on dash also. Oops that photo is huge. I live in Sedona, AZ and minimal mechanics up here. I just had new tires put on could they have gotten a tire sensor wrong for the VSC? No idea why it's giving me the red alert/warning light now shown in photo.

I think I have multiple problems......

Any thoughts or suggestions before I head to local mechanic?

Scan it, it will disable VSC for anything coding for the engine that is not emissions.

It actually is not bad since it will have history codes.

Could be a multitude of codes, so best to find exactly what they are. Since ABS is not lit up, and it may be intermittent, could be as simple as dirty MAF sensor(s).

Well I had a local mechanic shop (not Lexus repair, just general) and they did a scan.

They say the check VSC light could be erroneous? That it may come on with the #1 bank running lean code.

I attached a copy of the scan history.

They want me to bring it in for them to troubleshoot.....made comments it could be a simple thing like a vacuum line or dirty sensor.

Had that once on my previous 2007, took the car to a Toyota dealer, they erased the code, end of the story.

A lean code means the engine will not run as expected so the system disables VSC as a precaution since it can't accurately predict output.

That makes sense.

It's intermittent so I'm thinking most likely a sensor going bad or dirty?

Nav going dark for me was always a sign of a failed 12v battery (or too low voltage like if you kept your lights on). It is well know that a bad 12v battery will wreck havoc on these car.

I will have that battery checked it's done that a couple of times.

I know now why the check VSC light is on......but still trying to resolve the lean left bank issue. Thinking since it's intermittent it's a sensor (I have no idea where or how to check that yet) or vacuum hose (no idea which ones to check).

Popping the hood today to replace air filters.

Default What can I try next?

Changed the Spark Plugs but still have check engine light on.

Looked like they were the original plugs with 125K miles on them....

Did a quick round trip of 60 miles...check engine light was out the whole way there and back. Ran another errand and the check engine light is back on. Will get code checked again..........
