Default suspension opinions

I have a '08 LS460 that I just ordered an Aimgain body kit for. While I'm waiting on delivery I'm now looking for a solution for getting it down low. I like the idea of a static ride, but most I see are on air. The 2 options I'm considering are, 1- JIC coilovers with Phantom cups or 2- Air runner OTG kit. I believe air runner is more expensive.

The wheels I'm going to run are BBS 3 piece / 21x10+29 & 21x12+35

Any advice, input, pointers or opinions are welcome.

Thanks

If you’re running tires like that, you are probably better off with air ride. Good luck to you

Thanks, duly noted...

Does anyone with an LS on coilovers with phantom cups or the air runner OTG care to give their opinion? Or words of advice?

I'm on the OEM air suspension, so I can't really comment on your options directly. However, you may want to reach out to a couple of members that are still active and that have aftermarket air systems. I think that's the route I'd go if I were in your shoes. All the best brother, looking forward to seeing your sled with those wheels on and whichever direction you decide to go regarding the suspension.

Love the wheels man! I saw a similar set up in 20" on Ebay recently and just lost out on the auction. A 10" +29 offset on the front may foul on the inside so you may want to do a careful test fit, especially if you want to run bags. Since airing out will increase your neg camber and pull the tops of the wheel in even more. On the rears, I haven't seen many run a 12, 11.5 is the largest I've seen someone run on stock rear fenders. And tire size selection will be key. But you're offsets are conservative enough that you can probably play with spacers to fine tune the fitment. I can't really comment on the JIC/Cup set up but I can say with experience that you can't go wrong with AirRunner. I've had their Basic kit on two of my previous vehicles and I just ordered the same kit for my current LS. The difference between the OTG kit and the Basic is the ability to fine tune your drive height/bag pressure ratio. It's a great system for guys, or gals, to drive low and maintain a good ride. Because you can keep your bag pressure up to maintain a higher "spring" rate, but then then adjust the shock length for a lower height. I'm an old fart so I just prefer to hard park then drive around at slightly lower than stock. And like anyone will tell you, their kits are not universal as they are designed specifically for an application and ride great....I sound like a salesman LOL!

Thanks, I really appreciate the input dubless, I'm 100% sold on Air runner, I've been talking with Shin for the last few days and I'm ready to order. I'm just not sure if I need the OTG struts or will the basic struts suffice. I'm an old fart too hahahaa, but I've driven lowered vehicles my whole life. As for the wheels. The size and offset seemed really aggressive to me, but I bought them from a guy who ran them on his LS460 and they looked perfect. He did say he had to run a 15mm spacer on the fronts to avoid contact with the brakes. I think he was on stock air suspension and he definitely had to do quarter panel work as well. I wonder if I will have more problems with aftermarket air? I assume it will be lower than stock air. Here are a couple pics of his car before he sold me the wheels.

Those wheels are soo badass!!! There was definitely some thought and planning that went into that persons fitment, especially considering the with widths he chose. It's perfect with the 15mm front spacer. Do you know if he was running adjustable front or rear arms? Yeah, Shin's the man to talk to. Definitely trust his judgment. I've known him for several years and he's had his hands on some of baddest bagged JDM cars out there. OTG is awesome if you're into fine tuning. Younger me would be under the car every weekend tweaking to the last mm of adjustments...Now I've kinda of migrated (old age) over to the set it and forget it mentality LOL. If I'm not mistaken the OTG and the Basic kits sit at the same height fully aired out.

Thanks, he said he didn't run any adjustable arms, he didn't want too much camber on the LS. He just had fender work done to make the fit perfect. I think you maybe right on the OTG struts, I probably would prefer the peace of mind that comes with set it and forget it, plus saves me $1500. Thanks again for the input, I really do appreciate it.

No worries man, cant wait to see your results! I was close to going OTG on my LS as well. But I was completely satisfied with the Basic kits I had on my other vehicles that I decided to stick with it.
