Default Control Arms

I read here recently that the most serious and costly issue on the Lexus LS 460L is to replace the control arms on both sides (8). I have just got a quote from a good car shop (not the stealership) to do all the work for $1,170.00. This includes all wheel balancing and alignment along with skimming all brake discs.
I would of thought issues with the actuator and the VSC warning lights coming on would be more troublesome and costly, especially if you have to replace sensors or cat converters etc.

Yes the control arms are expensive parts to replace i replaced mine ones with aftermarket parts and trust me it lasted a year and half only . The price you mentioned includes the 8 control arms ?

$1,170 for all 8 arms? Is this labor quote only?

Yes the bushings went bad on upper arms on both sideNext time i am going to buy just the bushings and find a press shop to get it fixed because the arms dont go bad its just the rubber bushes that creates this problem

That is not always true. In some cases, control arm ball joints fail or become too weak.

Give the SuperPro bushings a try next time. Should last much longer with little sacrifice in ride quality.

Yes i will agree but he can inspect the control arms and can know if its the control arms that are bad and he can get good control arms from junkyard for cheaper and replace the bushings

I hear you and agree with you, it doesn't fill my heart with joy to spend this amount if not required. But replacing the bushes would not resolve the issue of the control arms rubbing against the shocks, hence the reason for replacing.

You did not mention the arms rubbing the shocks earlier. Is the problem on both sides ?

sorry, I thought it was obvious that I was not changing the 8 control arms because the bushes had gone .... that is stretching it even for the car shops to try a pull a stunt like that 🙄

Plus the age of the car is a big tell tale sign that the arms are just about completely gone
